DSG Privacy Policy

The Droop Snoot Group takes your privacy seriously. This policy lets you know when and why we ask you for personal information, what we do with it and how we safeguard it.

We try only to collect the information we need to provide the service you want, and no more. At present this is restricted to contact details we need to provide you with membership services, such as the Droop Snoot Noos. Any other information you give us is voluntary.

We won't do anything with your personal information that you wouldn't want us to.

We won't disclose your personal information to anyone else unless we have to do so to fulfill your requests, you specifically tell us to, we believe we have no alternative but to do so, or we are compelled to by law.

We make every effort to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 in our handling of your personal information.

Our forums are hosted by an American company, Yuku. Because of the services they provide, their privacy policy is much more detailed than ours and does include such things as cookies. You should read their privacy policy before using their service.

Links to other sites

The DSG provides links to other websites which we think may be of interest to members. These sites are outside the DSG's control and may have privacy policies which are different to ours. You should read the privacy statements on those sites for further information.

Use of Cookies

Many websites use small files called 'cookies' to help your use of the site, to gather information for advertising purposes, or to record information such as how many people visit a site. These cookies are stored on your computer. Generally, cookies are useful and help improve your experience of a site; for example, they may save you having to sign in repeatedly at a site, or they may allow you to put together a 'shopping basket' of goods when shopping on the web. However, some companies can use cookies to track your surfing habits and use the information for market research purposes. Cookies used this way are rarely, if ever, tied to personal information. At the moment the DSG website does not use any cookies of any type, nor do we have current plans to do so.

The company which hosts our website, Storm, and our forum providers, Yuku, may use cookies; their privacy policies can be found by following the links. Neither the DSG or our partners link cookies or tracking files with personally identifiable information.

Changes in policy

We may have to alter this privacy policy from time to time as the website develops, and if we do those changes will be displayed on this page; you should look at this policy occasionally to make sure you are happy with our handling of your information.

Your use of the Droop Snoot Group forums

If you use the Droop Snoot Group discussion forums, we ask that you stick to a few basic guidelines.

Anybody's welcome on the forums, DSG member or not; although some sections are only open to club members. We'd ask, though, that if you're going to get involved, you read and stick to our policies; that way it'll be a better experience for everybody.

First - and most important - treat other forum users with respect. This forum should be a relaxed place to chat to like-minded people. Aggressive behaviour, slamming or bashing, whether in a public forum or private message will not be tolerated, and people doing so will be banned.

Remember that when you're talking to someone face to face, there are a lot of visual clues to their mood and meaning that you don't get in writing - it may seem someone's having a go when they're not. If you're not sure, stop and count to ten before having a go back. Use the 'smileys' to underline your meaning if you need to - that's why they're there.

Don't flood the board - don't post the same message at the same time in several different places. Doing so just confuses the discussion, and may result in all the posts being removed.

Don't type your whole post in capital letters. It's difficult to read, and is considered the equivalent of shouting. Obviously from time to time you might want to put a word or two in caps for emphasis - that's OK.

Foul or vulgar language - don't. Your post will be deleted without notice. If you're venting and need to express yourself, use a series of special characters e.g !*##*! or smileys instead.

Advertising. Keep it to the Snoot Sales forum, please. Many boards are plagued with 'hit and run' posters, who place one advert then disappear - we're OK with that, because it'll bring vehicles to the attention of our members, but if advertisers cause problems we may reconsider this policy.

Scams, spam, fraudsters and other scum - we have IP address logging and other systems in place to detect scammers and fraudsters and may take further action up to and including notifying your internet service provider or the authorities if we think it is necessary.

Don't put email addresses and other sensitive personal information in your posts. If you need to send others your email address, send them a personal message with it in. This is to prevent automated programs - 'spambots' - which search for publicly available email addresses to send junk mail to finding yours.

Banning. The Droop Snoot Group reserves the right to ban anyone from the forum or club membership who we feel may be bringing the club into disrepute or causing problems for other forum or club members.

From time to time, we may add to or amend these rules as we see fit or as new circumstances arise.

Our forum providers, Yuku, have their owm terms of use, which we suggest you read before using the forums.
